The first thing that every beginner photographer learns is the rule of thirds in photography.

Especially if you’re taking a class to learn photography then every teacher starts with this topic on the very first day of your class.

It helps you to improve your photography performance and look.

In this article, I’m covering some important topics for beginners.

Who wants to know what is the rule of thirds? and how to apply it to landscape and portrait photography.

With some simple explanations and examples.

I saw many famous YouTubers and photographers who use this rule of thirds to make their images/videos look so different.

Believe me, this thing helps you make your images more vibrant and eye-catching without changing many things.

So now without talking more about this rule, let’s see what it is and how it works…

Learn the Rule Of Thirds In Photography Under 5 Minutes

This article is very straightforward, which means I am just talking about this rule and some unique ways to apply this thing to your existing photography.

Here is the first and very important question for you…

What is the rule of thirds?

Here is the simple answer to this question.

Let me ask you some simple questions, which you already know if you like to capture images.

Like this…

rule of thirds

If your answer is no then you need to capture some more images with your smartphone.

You can find this kind of frame in your camera viewfinder.

So as you can see this full-frame is divided into nine different sections.

Just look at the four intersecting points highlighted in the image below…

Your AIM should be to place your subject in one of these intersecting points.

That’s it, this is called a rule of thirds.

Why the rule of thirds is very important and popular??

As you can see in this kind of photography the AIM is very easy to achieve.

But do you know why it is so important in this photography industry?

Here are some cool facts you need to know before mastering the rule of thirds…

The very first and most important advantage of the rule of thirds is that it makes your image look so steady and dynamic.

Just try capturing images with and without the rule of thirds ( examples are available at the end of the article…)

If you capture images with this technique then you’re not only capturing your subject but instead, you are also trying to cover more of the surroundings in your images.

Which is more important if you’re doing some kind of landscape cinematography or even doing street photography.

One thing that you always need to remember is not to judge someone else or your images on the base of this rule.

If your main focus is the subject then you don’t even need this rule, you’re ok with that.

So remember the rule of thirds is not necessary, it’s just one kind of concept which every photographer needs to remember.

An Easy Trick To Capture Images Using The Rule Of Thirds

If you somehow forgot to capture images using this rule or if you have already captured an image with this rule but don’t like it anymore then just crop your images as your requirement.

And you’re good to go.

Or you can even capture both types of images, and choose which one you like.

Here are some images which are captured with and without the rule of thirds…

And none of your audience may find something interesting ( just forgot your beautiful face ) in the entries video.

So it’s better to shoot videos using the rule of thirds.
