GoPro Tips For Family

GoPro’s are good to shoot some stunning action shots, but did you ever use GoPro to take Family Photos?

So if you’re saying yes then remember, I’m not talking about some simple images which you’re capturing using this action cam (images like base-jumping, wingsuit-flying, kamikaze-athletes anymore).

using this action camera, you can produce much more crazy content.

you can capture some good underwater images, play with different composition techniques, or buy more gear so you can use GoPro like a Pro.

today, in this article I’m going to share some Important GoPro Tips for your Family and Kids.

which you can apply to learn some simple techniques to capture better images and videos using GoPro.

Along with the tips, you’ll find many good ideas, ways & suggestions to use GoPro differently ( which helps you to get a unique perspective for video & images ).

now without talking more about it, let me share some Important GoPro Tips For your Family And Kids to apply during Vacations.

7 Important GoPro Tips For Family And Kids Vacations

here are some proper GoPro Tips For Family And your kids, which you need to remember and apply before you go on any family vacation.

Shoot everything

The very first and important tip that you need to remember before you go on vacation is to shoot everything.

Remember when you go outside for a family vacation, make sure you shoot every single location ( do not delete until you reach home or you’re pretty sure that image is not good ).

So once you come back to your home, you’ll find many good images which you just took randomly ( this thing happens to me many times 😀 ).

also as you know, GoPro comes with a very small display, so it’s quite hard to view the image after you capture it.

many times you’ll get out-of-focus images, shaky images too, so make sure you capture at least 2-3 images for the perfect location ( I’m capturing more than 4-8 images if I find the perfect location ).

If you’re taking out your dogs or any other pat then make sure you capture them as well with your kids.

once you shoot every single place with your child and pets then you can look at all these images later after 5-10 years.

and those images defiantly going to make you happy at the end, and you can even bring all the memories back.

Carry a Selfie Pole For Good Selfies

This is another good and important tip that you must need to follow, just go on Amazon and buy any good selfie pole for your GoPro.

You can buy an all-in-one extension pole which you can use just to hold your GoPro ( for vlogging, if you like ), and extended it to take better selfies.

As you know selfies are very important whenever you’re traveling with your family and kids.

So buying a selfie pole is not a bad idea. you can use it to capture some cool selfies of your families (including you).

otherwise, you need to ask some other person to take a family picture, and sometimes it’s not a good idea.

sometimes, many strangers are not in a good mood to capture your family picture, so they just click the shutter button and go.

so a selfie pole is a better option you have with you whenever you go on any family trip.

Buy Some Extra Mounts

If you love to shoot videos with your GoPro then mounts are a very good option to buy.

because using a head mount or chest mount, you can get some amazing perspective in your videos.

I personally love to use chest mounts to go outside and shoot POV videos.

you can even attach these chest mount to your kids to get the best POV shots of what there’re doing.

If you’re a YouTuber then these types of mounts are a very important tool for you.

Mounts are very cheap and affordable so you can easily buy which one you need.

Shoot POV

As I mentioned earlier, POV videos are way better than shooting with your steady hands.

If you’re not aware of POV then its full form is Point of view and the meaning of POV is creating an angle with your camera that shows what a person is looking at.

here is the sample image, you’ll get once you start shooting with POV…

GoPro POV

as you can see in this example image looks like the image was captured by that person’s eye, and that’s the correct point of view.

you can archive the same result by just attaching your GoPro to your head mount.

to shoot POV you can buy a chest or head mount, but I prefer a chest mount.

because it looks kind of weird in public when you’re shooting using a head mount.

If you’re doing some adventure then head mount is way better than chest mount but for normal activity chest, the mount is a better option.

So that totally depends on the location, which you’re going to, so make sure you do proper research and brainstorming with your family before you buy any mount for your GoPro.

Set the GoPro to Timelapse Mode

If you’re not familiar with or even not using time-lapse mode then you’d missed something important.

basically, it’s one type of photography.

here is a simple example of timelapse mode…

Just assume you’re shooting a 30-sec long video with your GoPro.

and now once you choose timelapse mode then when you shoot a 30-sec long video then you’ll get a fast forward ( around 10 sec ) video.

so basically time-lapse mode increases the frame rate from a normal video and shows 30-sec video in 10 sec or maybe less.

now the pure definition of timelapse is (according to WIKI ) the frequency at which film frames are captured (the frame rate) is much more spread out than the frequency used to view the sequence.

You can take timelapse of sunset or sunrise, you can even take timelapse of your kids while there’re playing ( to get some funny fast forward clips 😀 )

Take Storytelling Shots and Footage

If you’re not that much interested in photography then you can skip these two points.

but if you like to capture some good images then these points are very important for you to remember before you go out on vacation.

Always try to get the story behind every single image which you capture.

no matter if you’re capturing an image of your kids, wife, husband, etc…

stories make your photograph perfect.

So if you’re viewing those images after 10-15 years then you’ll get the real story behind the image which you captured.

also whenever any person views the images can easily explain what’s going on when that image was captured.

you can capture some funny or some sad moments that’s fine, but make sure you try to get some good stories with your home.

Additional Point

If you love to make some awesome stuff with your GoPro then this is the point that you need to check.

As you know many people use GoPro’s to capture some adventure and to click some good images.

but remember you can perform way more crazy stuff with your GoPro.
