so the basic meaning of composition in photography is you capture your object in different situations within the frame.
A good photographic composition may help you to capture something marvelous or something very bed.
so never imaging these composition techniques helps you 110% to capture eye-catching images.
but this thing definatly helps you to see the final outcome of your image before you even start capturing.
you can assume a single photo in a different way using these methods.
and after real hard work & understanding these things, you can easily imagine a good shot without any camera.
now without talking more about it, let’s get started…
A Beginner’s Guide to some of the best Photo Composition Techniques
so in this article, I’m sharing some of the most useful and popular photo composition techniques.
which you can apply before you capture the shot, so you don’t need to capture the same spot multiple times just for a better view or perspective.
- Rule of Thirds
- Frame within the Frame
- Sometimes Triangles
- Good Patterns
- More Negative space
- Balancing
- Leading Lines
now let’s understand each and every technique in-depth with valid examples.
Rule of Thirds
This is the very first and most used ( and popular ) photo composition technique.
it’s used (at least once) by every single photographer in their photography career.
If you shoot streets or even portraits then you’re already familiar with this technique without knowing it.
This technique is quite easy and always helps photographers to capture better shots.
so the meaning of the rule of third is just divided your camera frame into horizontal/vertical third and set your object in one of these horizontal/vertical lines to make your eye-catching.
here is a simple example of the rule of third…
you can use this technique to capture portraits or even landscape shots.
This technique helps you a lot to capture better images, just try it.
for more detail, you can read our in-depth article on Learn Rule of Thirds in Photography under 5 Minutes.
Frame within the Frame
This technique is not totally related to some kind of photo frame, but yeah you can capture an image in a way that grabs user’s attention to focus on one point.
there is no way to set the frame as background or foreground, it totally depends on the situation and location.
here are some of the examples which help you to understand this technique.
as you can see, these both images contain different types of frames, I captured these images when I’m not familiar with this technique but still I manage to capture it.
that simply means you’re also familiar with all this stuff but you’re unknown to this.
Sometimes Triangles
This one is also a new technique for me in the list of our composition techniques.
The basic AIM of this technique is to capture images that contain any kind of triangle connection.
see this simple example…

As I’ve already mentioned that I’m new to this technique so I’m also learning this technique.
If you’re interested enough to learn and master this technique then you can read more in-depth about the Triangles Photo composition technique here.
Good Patterns
This is another composition technique related to patterns, which I mostly prefer to use while I was shooting with my mobile phone.
because for me compare to outdoor, it’s quite easy to find or create patterns indoor and capture it using your smartphone.
to capture good patterns I use some addon mobile camera lenses.
here are some cool patterns I captured…
you can follow me on Instagram for more amazing stuff.
all these images captured using a smartphone + addon lens.
More Negative space
If you don’t know what is the meaning of Negative space then Basically Negative space in your image helps viewers to grab attention to your subject.
these days, After understanding the proper meaning of this technique I frequently use to capture some outstanding shots.
still confused? here are some cool examples that help you to understand this technique…
so as you can see this image contains more space, which helps everyone to focus on the main subject.
Balancing
As you know sometimes it’s important to fill more details in the image whenever there is much room for negative space.
for example, as we know how the rule of third actually works, but if our subject is the only thing we’re capturing then there is a case of more negative space in the image.
so to fill up that space we can use this technique called balancing.
This technique helps/tells us to add extra details to the image to make a balanced picture.

as you can see in this image, there are a total of two subjects available.
we can capture this image using the rule of thirds and add more details to the image.
Leading Lines
This is a creative way to make your image look better.
If you’re creative enough then you’ve already captured some images using this technique.
This technique helps the viewer to see the subject or any important component instantly whenever they saw the actual image.
you can check out some of these examples to understand Leading Lines…
this image is one of the best examples which I captured using this technique.
sorry for the bad edits, this image I captured when I was learning how to capture :/
so now after seeing these images you can say that for image one, I used a bunch of leaves to create some lines.
and for 2nd image, you can see the railway track as our leading lines that I used to capture the camels and grab attention to them.
there are no rules to make your light straight to your subject, It’s just lined so you can create your own way to capture images using leading lines.
